Sales Operations

Capital Steel & Wire is seeking a full time Sales Operations employee to join the Operations team in our DeWitt, Michigan office.    This position will be responsible for supporting sales staff with computer and administrative assistance, assisting in servicing customers and vendors, and assisting with the distribution process.   Responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Managing and assisting sales representatives with customer accounts
  • Submitting shipping request to the logistics department
  • Understanding and developing programs to assist the sales department
  • Managing and processing material from beginning to end of sales order
  • Performing duties in a timely and accurate manner
  • Serving as primary backup to receptionist to answer incoming phone calls
  • Performing other duties as assigned

 Experience and Qualifications

Candidates must have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and exceptional telephone and customer service.  Outstanding organization and time management skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks and projects under a variety of conditions and constraints.  Outstanding computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite programs, Internet navigation and database applications are required.

 Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.   Two or more years’ experience in an administrative support position desired, preferably in a sales environment.

Draw Bench Operators - Night Shift

Capital Steel & Wire is adding a night shift to our current draw bench operations and is seeking three Level 1 Draw Bench Operators to join our team in our Mason, Michigan production facility. Our night shift operators will work four 10-hour shifts, 8:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., Sunday night to Thursday morning. Essential functions and responsibilities for these positions include:

  • Operate saw - load and unload material, set up for specific jobs, monitor orders as they are processed
  • Operate wheelabrator - keep loaded, input tags, keep blast cleaned up
  • Operate chamfer
  • Operate fork truck and overhead crane
  • Maintain proper paperwork as required by each specific job
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 High school diploma or GED required and valid Michigan Driver License. General computer experience and ability to read and follow written instructions required. Ability to perform basic math functions and accurately use tape measure required. Fork truck and overhead crane experience strongly preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to measure and interpret readings using caliper and micrometer desired for level 2 draw bench operator training. Requires ability to be on your feet and excessive walking of facility floor for 10 consecutive hours, and other physical activity such as bending, reaching and twisting. Requires ability to lift 15-50 pounds repeatedly and exposure to machinery and loud noises.

Saw Operator – 1st Shift

 Capital Steel & Wire is seeking two full time saw operators to join our team in our Mason, Michigan production facility.  First shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This position will be responsible for properly carrying out saw operation duties as assigned and executing other duties as assigned by the manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Load and unload material into saws
  • Set up saws for specific jobs
  • Stage bins for each saw
  • Empty chip bins
  • Monitor orders as they are processed by the saw
  • Maintain proper paperwork as required by each specific job
  • Operate fork truck and overhead crane
  • Assist with cleaning, organizing and general upkeep of saw shop

Experience and Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required and valid Michigan Driver License required.  General computer experience and ability to read and follow written instructions required.  Ability to perform basic math functions and accurately use a tape measure required.  Fork truck and overhead crane experience preferred. 

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Requires ability to stand for 8 consecutive hours and other physical activity such as bending, reaching and twisting.  Requires ability to lift 15-50 pounds repeatedly and exposure to machinery and loud noises.
