Cold Drawn Steel Capabilities - Cold Drawn Bar Mill

Capital Steel & Wire announces the addition of an internal Cold Drawn Bar Mill.

Capital Steel and Wire Inc. now offers the services of a complete cold-finishing mill.  This in-house mill will provide better service to customers, making low-cost, high-quality cold-finished bar available to clientele in the
right sizes, grades and shapes.

The cold-finishing mill, in Lansing, Mich., will be capable of completing the entire steel bar cold-finishing process utilizing the following:

•    Drawing capabilities from 1”-3”
•    shot blasting
•    cut-off machine
•    straightening mill
•    chamfering and bar marking
•    cold saw

Capital Steel will also employ an off-line eddy current testing machine to find surface imperfections as an
inclusion-free service.  The capability on this equipment is an additional 23,000 to 27,000 ton per year.
The cold drawn bar mill will produce bar sizes of one to three inch diameters and the mill will have the ability to stage material as well as inventory finished product for Capital Steel and Wire customers as part of a
customer-specific process flow.
